Louisville Man Arrested for Distributing Child Pornography on Social Media
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A local man, Michael Booth, was arrested on Wednesday for possessing and distributing child pornography. The 39-year-old was identified as the owner of a Kik social media account that allegedly shared child sexual abuse material from August 5 to August 7, 2025.
According to the arrest report, a search warrant confirmed that Booth’s Kik account was used to distribute illegal content. The report indicates that a subpoena traced the IP address involved back to Booth’s home.
Law enforcement officials found three files depicting minors under 12 years old and three files showing minors over 12, with the files reportedly shared multiple times. Booth faces charges of both possession and distribution of material portraying sexual performance by a minor.
Booth, who operates under the online name “Mr. Crafty Pants,” has gained popularity through arts and crafts tutorials, attracting significant followings on various platforms. Authorities began investigating Booth after reports surfaced regarding his Kik account sharing pornographic images.
One neighbor, Laura Nash, expressed her shock at the situation, stating, “It makes you feel really vulnerable. It’s terrifying, as a mom, to hear about something like this.” She indicated a growing concern in their community regarding children’s safety online.
Booth appeared in court on Thursday, where the judge set his bond at $100,000. If he posts bond, he will be placed under home incarceration and barred from internet access.
