Madison Trash and Recycling Collection Adjusted for Memorial Day

Madison, WI – In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, the Streets Division has adjusted the trash and recycling collection schedule for residents.
The drop-off sites operated by the Streets Division will be closed on Monday, May 26, 2025. They will reopen during their regular hours on Tuesday, May 27.
Residents whose regular trash and recycling collection occurs on Mondays are advised to place their carts at the curb by 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, instead of their usual collection day. This adjustment is necessary to accommodate the holiday schedule.
Additionally, those with Tuesday collection days will also see their carts emptied on Tuesday, May 28. Residents are cautioned that any carts placed after 6:30 a.m. may miss their collection and will need to wait until the next scheduled pickup.
For any questions about what can be recycled or for assistance, residents can utilize the online Recyclopedia available on the Streets Division’s website. It is important to note that large item collection will not occur on Memorial Day, with crews scheduled to begin large item collection on Tuesday, May 27.
