SUVA, Fiji – A magnitude 6.0 earthquake shook the Fiji Islands on Friday at 19:28:32 GMT, according to the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences.

The earthquake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 378.1 kilometers, with coordinates at 21.98 degrees south latitude and 177.73 degrees west longitude.

Reports indicate that there are currently no reports of damage or casualties associated with the quake. Officials continue to monitor the situation.

The region experiences seismic activity fairly regularly, but the depth of this earthquake may have mitigated the potential for significant impacts.
