Mahesh Babu Starrer ‘Guntur Kaaram’ Receives Mixed Reviews
Trivikram Srinivas’ latest Telugu film ‘Guntur Kaaram’, starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role, has garnered mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. The movie, which marks their third collaboration after the successful films ‘Athadu’ and ‘Khaleja’, fails to impress with its stale narrative.
The story revolves around Venkata Ramana Reddy (Mahesh Babu), who walks away from his palatial household after wreaking havoc. He longs for his mother’s love and seeks answers to his unhealed wounds. However, the film struggles to engage the audience and falls short of its aim to be both an emotional family entertainer and a mass masala film.
While Mahesh Babu delivers an earnest performance, the narrative fails to captivate. Trivikram brings together an ensemble cast including Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, Jayaram, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Murli Sharma, and Vennela Kishore. Unfortunately, none of these talented actors are given interesting characters to portray and their performances go unnoticed. The film also features Sreeleela in a forgettable role.
‘Guntur Kaaram’ revolves around a family and business feud, with political ambitions intertwining the dark secrets of the household. The clash between Mahesh Babu’s character and Prakash Raj’s character, a staple in Telugu cinema, lacks the usual entertainment value. The film also suffers from age-inappropriate lines and a lack of innovation in its visuals and action sequences.
Despite its shortcomings, ‘Guntur Kaaram’ fares better than Trivikram’s previous film ‘Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava’. However, this is not enough to celebrate its success. The film struggles to hold the audience’s attention throughout its long duration, and fails to make a lasting impression.
