Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies emphatically got back to winning ways on Sunday in the Hollywoodbets Super League as they registered a dominant 6-0 win over First Touch.

Captain Zanele Nhlapho smashed in a wonderful brace, coupled with strikes from Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo, Khunjulwa Mali, and an own goal from the opponents.

Having enjoyed playing this fixture in recent times, Banyana Ba Style wasted no time in stamping their authority as they headed into the first-half break with a 2-0 lead.

After the restart, the reigning champions applied more pressure and they were duly rewarded with four more goals to wrap up a 6-0 victory. Interestingly, all scorers found the back of the net for the first time this season.

Refilwe Tholakele, who was a constant threat in attack, believes that despite the big win, the team could have scored more.

“It was a game we needed to win and everyone showed up today. We are happy with the way we applied the instructions today that we got from training. We could have scored more, though, but we are happy with the scoreline. We will keep working hard to ensure that we finish off our chances because we create so many of them. Our focus remains on maintaining this level of performance and striving for even better results in the upcoming matches,” Refilwe stated.

The Brazilians have now won 9 out of 11 games this season and have accumulated 28 points. They have scored 47 goals and have conceded just 8 times.

Boitumelo Rabale still leads the Sundowns Ladies’ scoring chart with eight goals, two ahead of Miche Minnies who has six. Nthabiseng Majiya sits close behind with five goals to her name. Salome Kekana and Andisiwe Mgcoyi each have three goals, while Asanda Hadebe, Rhoda Mulaudzi, Chuene Morifi, Regina Mogolola, Zanele Nhlapho and Refilwe Tholakele have two apiece. Cimone Sauls, Kholosa Biyana, Lebohang Ramalepe, Melinda Kgadiete, Malebogo Shawe, Bambanani Mbane, Lehlogonolo Mashigo and Khunjulwa Mali have all scored once.

Up next for Sundowns Ladies is a clash against Copperbelt Ladies on the 18th of May, at the Baroka Global Village at 13:00.
