Mammootty And Jiiva Starrer 'yatra 2' Depicts Political Journey Of Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy

South Indian actors Mammootty and Jiiva are set to star in the upcoming Telugu filmYatra 2‘, directed by Mahi V Raghav. The movie is a sequel to the 2019 biopic ‘Yatra’, which narrated the political journey of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

The film opens with a poignant scene between YS Rajasekhara Reddy (played by Mammootty) and his son YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (played by Jiiva). It sets the stage for the story, which revolves around Jagan’s efforts to gain the trust of the people and rise in politics after his father’s untimely demise.

Director Mahi Raghav collaborates with cinematographer Madhie and music composer Santhosh Narayanan to create a visually compelling and emotionally charged narrative. The film seamlessly blends cinematic reenactments with actual footage of YSR, Jagan, and the adoring masses. The subdued color palette and evocative background score enhance the overall impact of the storytelling.

Mammootty delivers a powerful performance as YSR, anchoring the film with his regal presence. Jiiva brings a convincing portrayal of Jagan, capturing the nuances of his character and his journey to becoming a leader.

While the initial scenes highlight the father-son bond and Jagan’s hesitation to step into the limelight, the narrative becomes increasingly one-sided as it delves into the political drama. Jagan’s opponents, including Chandrababu Naidu (played by Mahesh Manjrekar), are portrayed as conniving and corrupt, while Jagan is depicted as an infallible leader.

Despite some engaging moments and strong performances, the film loses momentum in the last half-hour when it focuses on the prolonged battle between Jagan and Naidu. The absence of discussions on the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and the character of YS Sharmila are noticeable omissions.

Nevertheless, ‘Yatra 2’ succeeds in celebrating the rise of Jagan as a political leader and his victory in the 2019 elections. The film pays tribute to the legacy of YSR and Jagan’s indomitable spirit, resonating with their dedicated followers and fans.

As the sequel to the critically acclaimed ‘Yatra’, the film aims to capture the attention of both cinephiles and political enthusiasts. With Mammootty and Jiiva in lead roles, ‘Yatra 2’ promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking watch for audiences.
