A tragic incident unfolded on the Monash Freeway in Melbourne, as a collision involving multiple vehicles, including a motorcycle, led to the death of a 20-year-old female motorbike rider during the morning peak hour. The citybound lanes of the Monash Freeway had to be temporarily shut down between Police Road and Wellington Road, causing significant traffic delays that stretched back to the South Gippsland Freeway.

VicRoads worked diligently to address the congestion, and by midday, all city-bound lanes were reopened, providing relief to commuters. The female motorcycle rider, who sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash, tragically passed away despite medical efforts. Meanwhile, the driver of a Nissan hatchback involved in the incident suffered minor injuries and was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

In a concerning turn of events, a 34-year-old man from Pakenham has been charged with dangerous driving causing death in connection to the fatal crash. The accused individual will be presenting himself before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on June 24 to address the charges brought against him, shedding light on the legal proceedings following this heartbreaking incident.
