Mandy Moore Launches Fundraiser for Family After Eaton Fire Devastation

Mandy Moore, star of ‘This Is Us,’ has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support her family members who lost their home and belongings in the devastating Eaton Fire. The actress revealed on Thursday, Jan. 9, that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law were among those affected, with their first child due in weeks.

Moore, 40, shared the fundraiser on Instagram, explaining that her brother-in-law, Griff, a touring musician, lost his entire collection of drums and percussion instruments essential for his livelihood. ‘It’s all so much. So many have asked how to help during this unimaginable and stressful time…Please consider donating and sharing to help them rebuild,’ she wrote.

The actress also addressed critics who questioned her financial contributions to her family. ‘And people questioning whether we’re helping out our own family or attributing some arbitrary amount of money google says someone has is NOT helpful or empathetic,’ Moore wrote. ‘Of course we are. Our buddy Matt started this GoFundMe, and I’m sharing because people have asked how they can help them. We just lost most of our life in a fire too. Kindly F OFF. No one is forcing you to do anything.’

Earlier on Thursday, Moore disclosed that her own family’s home was significantly damaged in the fire. Her husband, Taylor Goldsmith of the band Dawes, and her brother-in-law also lost their studio, which housed every instrument and piece of equipment they owned.

The Eaton Fire, which began on Tuesday, Jan. 7, has burned more than 13,600 acres and destroyed approximately 4,000 structures, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). As of Thursday evening, the fire remained 0 percent contained. Firefighters are also battling the nearby Palisades Fire in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades neighborhood, which has burned over 17,200 acres and is also 0 percent contained.

Moore’s fundraiser has garnered significant attention, with many fans and followers expressing their support and contributing to the cause. The actress has urged those who can to donate and share the campaign to help her family rebuild their lives.
