Manhunt for Trevor McEuen After Cutting Ankle Monitor in Texas

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas – Law enforcement agencies are conducting a manhunt for Trevor McEuen, a capital murder suspect, who allegedly removed his ankle monitor and failed to appear in court on Monday. McEuen’s court date was related to charges stemming from a fatal shooting that occurred last year in Kaufman County.
Officials from the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office have confirmed that McEuen, 30, is now subject to an active warrant for bail revocation with his bail set at $3 million. The trial, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on May 5, 2025, has been affected by his disappearance, resulting in the release of the jury.
The search operations are currently focused on the area along U.S. Highway 80 east of Grand Saline, where authorities believe McEuen may be hiding. Sheriff Joe Bridger emphasized the importance of public safety, stating, “Our number one priority is the safety of all citizens of Van Zandt County. We are working diligently with our partner agencies to ensure the safety of all our citizens.” Residents are advised to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to emergency services.
The background of the charges dates back to May 1, 2023, when authorities responded to a shooting on Neal Road. They discovered 35-year-old Aaron Martinez fatally shot inside his truck. Law enforcement pursued McEuen, who was seen fleeing the scene. A standoff followed, ending with McEuen’s peaceful surrender after he discarded a rifle and handgun.
As investigations continue, authorities have not yet clarified how McEuen managed to tamper with his ankle monitor. Public safety remains a priority as the manhunt unfolds.
