Actor Mark Hamill brought a touch of the galaxy far, far away to the White House on Friday, surprising the press briefing with his ‘Star Wars‘ charm and a gift of aviator sunglasses from President Joe Biden.

Draped in the sunglasses, Hamill, known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker, kicked off the White House press briefing with a Star Wars quip, delighting reporters with his unexpected appearance.

Reflecting on his visit to the Oval Office with Biden, Hamill shared, “I called him ‘Mr. President,’ and he responded with ‘You can call me Joe,’ to which I proposed, ‘Can I call you Joe-bi-Wan Kenobi?’

Expressing gratitude for Biden’s influence, Hamill remarked, “I want to say, once again, how grateful I am, and that just shows you that one person can be so influential and so positive in our lives.”

During his visit, Hamill fondly recalled his previous trips to the White House during the Carter and Obama administrations, highlighting that this particular tour of the Oval Office was “extra special.”

Furthermore, Hamill’s political leanings aligned with Biden’s platform, as the actor has been vocal about his support for the president’s reelection campaign and engaged in social media commentary on relevant political issues.

May the Force indeed seemed to guide Hamill’s day, as he playfully interacted with reporters and added a touch of the fictional Jedi world to the serious political setting of the White House.

Not content with just his acting career, Hamill also recently lent his voice to the ‘Air Alert‘ app, where he provides a calming yet urgent message in response to Russia‘s aerial assaults on Ukraine.
