Marvel’s Thunderbolts Falls Short at Box Office, Hot Toys Unveils Yelena Figure

LOS ANGELES, CA – Marvel‘s second movie of the year, Thunderbolts, grossed less than $10 million at the box office this past weekend. The film, which debuted earlier this month, has earned a total of $358 million globally, with approximately $175 million from domestic markets and $182 million from international audiences.
While the film’s earnings may not be deemed a financial success, collectible company Hot Toys is celebrating Thunderbolts surpassing the $350 million mark by releasing a new figure of Yelena Belova, a character played by Florence Pugh. The collectible closely resembles Pugh’s character in the film and features her short and long batons, attachable scythe blades, as well as her pistol and combat knife for close-quarters encounters.
After Thunderbolts hit theaters, Hot Toys quickly announced a full line of collectibles that fans can expect soon. Yelena’s figure is the first to be revealed, with additional figures for characters such as Red Guardian, Bucky Barnes, Ghost, John Walker, and Taskmaster expected to follow in the upcoming weeks.
Hot Toys has recently focused more on Star Wars collectibles, releasing two figures of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader to coincide with the 20th anniversary re-release of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones. Additionally, following the Season 2 finale of The Last of Us, Hot Toys hinted at a new line of collectibles that will likely feature figures for Joel, Ellie, Abby, and others.
Thunderbolts is the second Marvel movie released this year, following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and will be part of a larger lineup including the anticipated upcoming titles featuring Marvel’s First Family. The Yelena Belova figure is now available for pre-order. Fans can look forward to more updates and new figure announcements from Hot Toys.
