Marvel Zombies Finale Shocks Fans with Dark Twist

BURBANK, Calif. — The animated series “Marvel Zombies,” now streaming on Disney+, has taken audiences by storm with its unique blend of horror and humor. This four-part series follows a group of survivors attempting to evade a terrifying army of super-powered undead.

In its gripping finale, the remaining human heroes face off against the Queen of the Dead, also known as Wanda Maximoff, voiced by Elizabeth Olsen. Seeking to claim the power of the Infinity Stones, held by the Hulk, Wanda leads her army of reanimated soldiers into battle against the dwindling group of survivors.

Despite their valiant efforts, the human characters find themselves outmatched. Wanda ultimately invites Kamala Khan, portrayed by Iman Vellani, to join her in a twisted mission to ‘save’ the world. Reluctantly, Kamala accepts, but soon finds herself trapped in an illusion, waking up in Jersey City surrounded by family and friends.

However, the reality begins to glitch, and Kamala realizes she is still under Wanda’s spell. She witnesses Riri Williams (also played by Iman Vellani) struggling against an army of zombies, reinforcing the notion that danger is far from over.

Director Bryan Andrews and Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum shared that they intentionally crafted a dark ending to unsettle viewers. Andrews stated, “There’s always something bittersweet or dark in this genre,” likening the finale to the unexpected conclusions found in classic films like “Empire Strikes Back.”

While a second season for “Marvel Zombies” has not been announced, Andrews and Winderbaum have many ideas in the works. Winderbaum expressed hope for continuing the series, indicating that there are numerous characters and narratives left to explore. “There was too much story than could be contained,” Andrews added.

As fans ponder the cliffhanger ending featuring a screeching, undead Wanda, they are left eager for what may come next in the Marvel Universe. All episodes of “Marvel Zombies” are available for streaming on Disney+ now.
