Maryland Man Found Dead Beach Bahamas

NASSAU, Bahamas — A 23-year-old Maryland man, Dinari McAlmont, was found dead on a beach in Nassau on April 5, just hours after arriving in the Bahamas with his parents. His family has raised concerns about his death, alleging foul play and describing a traumatic series of events leading up to the discovery of his body.

McAlmont’s family had been vacationing at the Atlantis Paradise Island resort, where they arrived on April 4. According to his mother, Michelle McAlmont, Dinari last seen around 9 p.m. on April 4 after leaving the dinner table to retrieve a jacket. When he did not return, his parents filed a missing person report.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our guests,” a resort spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time. We are fully cooperating with the authorities as they conduct their investigation.”

His mother reported that they were unable to track Dinari’s phone location, heightening their concern. “The police said they were looking for him because apparently he spat on some staff in a restaurant,” she said, indicating she could not verify those claims. Resort officials allegedly questioned her during the search.

To make matters worse, Dinari’s body was discovered on the shore with “no vital signs” just after 5:30 a.m. on April 5. The Royal Bahamas Police Force began an investigation into the death, which has not yet been labeled a murder pending autopsy results.

Michelle McAlmont described the emotional toll of seeing a photo of her son’s body, saying it was unrecognizable due to severe injuries. “When I looked at the photo they showed me, my son was beaten; he was traumatized,” she told a local news outlet. “That tells me they beat my son down in the sand. I need justice for my baby.”

The Bahamas introduced a Level 2 Travel Advisory for U.S. citizens, advising increased caution due to a rise in crime affecting tourists. The advisory highlights concerns about violent crimes occurring mainly in urban areas such as Nassau and Freeport. The warning has caused alarm among tourists planning to visit the Caribbean nation.

In light of these circumstances, Dinari’s parents are seeking legal counsel experienced in international cases. “I would expect nothing more than a full and thorough investigation,” Michelle McAlmont stated. Meanwhile, the resort continues to collaborate with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation.
