Mason Thames Birthday Celebration Actor

Los Angeles, CA — Mason Thames, the young actor known for his recent hits, celebrated his 18th birthday in an unconventional way. Instead of partying, he spent the day with his father at the zoo, enjoying smoothies and attempting to ride a mechanical bull.

Thames has been in love with movies since childhood, often attending Friday night screenings with his family. His passion led to his first significant role in the horror film “The Black Phone” at age 13, where he played Finney, a boy trying to escape from a sadistic kidnapper.

His breakout role lit a spark in Hollywood, but it was his performance in Universal’s live-action adaptation of “How to Train Your Dragon” that really expanded his fame. Playing Hiccup, Thames faced unique challenges while filming, including months of training for stunts and blacksmithing.

“I’ve been doing this for so long, and now it feels like it’s everyone’s movie, not just mine,” Thames said. The film, released in June, has become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2025, earning over $300 million worldwide.

Thames is not slowing down, with “Regretting You,” based on a Colleen Hoover novel, set to release. In this heartfelt drama, Thames plays Miller Adams, showcasing his range as an actor.

Moreover, he is returning to his roots in the horror genre with “The Black Phone 2,” which opens in theaters on October 17. Thames noted that his character has grown significantly since the first film, dealing with unresolved trauma from his past.

Despite his rising fame, Thames remains grounded, frequently returning home to Texas where everyday life prevails. “I still have to do chores like taking out the trash,” he chuckled, “so I’m not too special at home.”

As he embarks on this new chapter in adulthood, Thames stays connected to his childhood dreams, balancing stardom with the realities of family life.
