MASS 50-501 Marches for Migrants Amid ICE Concerns

BOSTON, Massachusetts — The organization MASS 50-501 marched on Monday to support migrants and protest against frequent and violent detentions by ICE agents in Massachusetts. The march began at Boston City Hall and concluded at the State House.
Around 200 people from various organizations raised their voices in favor of migrants and called for respect for due process. However, the event saw the absence of many migrants and Hispanic organizations. “No ICE, no hate,” chanted numerous U.S. citizens who recognize the importance of respecting immigrants in the U.S.
Telemundo Nueva Inglaterra spoke with Roberto Fragoza, a U.S. citizen whose father migrated from Mexico to Boston years ago. Fragoza is now contemplating buying a ticket back home. “I feel sad because my parents are Mexican, and I know how they got here. I have opportunities because they came to this country, and I’m very sad that there are people who want the same but can’t get that opportunity,” Fragoza said.
He expressed concern that the fear of ICE agents has left his father in a state of uncertainty. “My dad is thinking about going back to Mexico, not to stay, but because he is scared. He’s 70 years old, and he thinks this situation is going to get worse. But I believe we must fight for our country,” Fragoza added.
Another participant, María Cristina, highlighted her experiences helping hundreds of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border. “It was horrible, very bad. It’s a terrible nightmare. I’m very concerned for the immigrants,” she said. Cristina noted that she spent time in El Paso, Texas, where she witnessed the bravery of migrants. Despite not speaking Spanish, many U.S. citizens at the event emphasized that Hispanics deserve respect.
The protesters made another plea to Governor Maura Healey to protect them from what they claim are abuses by ICE.
