A significant power outage has struck southeast New Brunswick, leaving thousands of residents without electricity on Monday. According to NB Power, approximately 5,000 customers are currently impacted by the outage, with the majority of the affected areas located in Shediac and Cap-Pelé.

At its peak, nearly 25,000 customers experienced outages, primarily in the Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe communities. The cause of the widespread blackout has not been officially determined as of yet.

NB Power has attributed the outages to a transmission line issue in the Shediac area. In response to the situation, the utility provider has deployed crews to address the problem and is working diligently to restore power to all affected customers in a timely manner.

As per NB Power’s latest updates, there are currently seven unplanned outages reported, with the bulk of them concentrated in the Shediac-Cap-Pelé region. The utility anticipates that most customers will have their power restored by 11:30 a.m., with specific outages along the Scoudouc Road expected to be resolved by 12:30 p.m.

Customers who have been impacted by the outage are encouraged to report their status online or via phone to NB Power. The utility has assured residents that their teams will continue working until all services are fully restored.
