Massive Snowstorm Predicted to Hit New York State Next Week
A significant snowstorm is forecasted to impact New York State starting from Thursday, November 21, and is expected to last through Saturday, November 23. According to the National Weather Service, this storm is anticipated to bring “heavy snow” to the region.
The storm is predicted to intensify as it crosses the Great Lakes, potentially leading to substantial snowfall. Some areas of New York State could see up to 12 inches of snow, with some storm chasers suggesting that certain portions might receive as much as a foot of snow.
Meteorologists are closely monitoring the extended forecast, although there is some inconsistency between different weather models. The GFS model indicates colder temperatures and significant snowfall, including lake-effect snow, while the Euro model suggests milder conditions with only rain during the same period.
Residents of Western New York, particularly around Buffalo, are advised to prepare for winter conditions. Historically, Buffalo receives its first measurable snowfall by November 8th and its first inch of snow by November 18th, indicating that the region is due for its first significant snow event of the season.
