Matildas Captain Sam Kerr and Partner Kristie Mewis Announce Pregnancy
Matildas captain Sam Kerr has announced that she and her partner, American professional soccer player Kristie Mewis, are expecting a baby. The news was shared through a collage of black and white photos on Kerr’s Instagram, including one where she is holding up an ultrasound scan and another where she is pointing to Mewis’s stomach. The post was captioned “Mewis-Kerr baby coming 2025!” and was met with an outpouring of celebrations from friends and fans.
Kerr, 31, and Mewis, 33, have been in a relationship since after the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Their relationship became public following the women’s semifinals bronze medal match where the US team, which Mewis was part of, won 4-3 against Australia. The moment when Mewis consoled Kerr after the match sparked rumors about their relationship.
In 2023, Kerr proposed to Mewis, and the couple has been together ever since. Both players represented their countries at the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Kerr has been a standout player for Chelsea since joining the club in 2019, scoring 99 goals in 128 matches and recently re-signing with the club until 2026. Mewis currently plays for West Ham United.
Samantha Kerr is widely regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, known for her speed, skill, and tenacity. She has captained the Australia women’s national team since 2019 and holds the record as the all-time leading Australian international scorer with 69 international goals.
