Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny Pacquiao Boxing Rematch

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may soon meet again in the boxing ring, more than a decade after their historic bout in 2015. Pacquiao revealed during a recent interview that he and Mayweather’s teams are close to an agreement for a rematch.

“It depends on whether we can understand each other,” Pacquiao said, referencing ongoing negotiations between the two camps. The former champion indicated that both sides are dedicated to making the fight happen.

In 2015, Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision in one of the most highly anticipated matches in boxing history. At that time, Pacquiao battled through a shoulder injury, which he confirmed later on. However, he now claims to be injury-free ahead of the potential rematch.

“It’s very interesting because, right now, I don’t have a shoulder problem,” he stated. Pacquiao also mentioned that if the rematch occurs, it will likely take place in Las Vegas, although he acknowledged that several terms are still being negotiated.

“I’m sure the world of boxing will be excited if the rematch will push through,” added the 46-year-old boxer. Meanwhile, Pacquiao returned to the ring in July 2025 after a four-year break, although he lost to Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title.

Mayweather, 48, retired from professional boxing in 2017 but has engaged in exhibition matches since then, most recently against John Gotti III in 2024. A planned exhibition fight between Mayweather and Mike Tyson has also been discussed, but Pacquiao believes this won’t hinder their potential negotiations.

<p“He has his own decision, so I cannot prevent him from fighting Mike Tyson,” Pacquiao commented. He is also exploring an exhibition fight with Vasiliy Lomachenko but reiterated that his priority remains the rematch with Mayweather, calling it a “real fight.”
