McDonald’s Chicken Big Mac Debuts Across U.S. Locations
CHICAGO – McDonald's is set to launch the Chicken Big Mac across the United States on October 10, 2024. This limited-time menu item, inspired by the traditional Big Mac, features two tempura-battered chicken patties instead of the iconic beef patties. The new sandwich will be available at participating locations nationwide while supplies last.
Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, expressed excitement about this addition. “With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” he stated. “By tapping into some of our fans’ biggest passions from dupe culture to live-streaming, we’re able to serve up more than just a sandwich.”
The Chicken Big Mac was previously tested in Miami in 2022 and has been a part of the menu in the United Kingdom. Some U.S. markets have already included it, with prices varying from $4.59 to $5.99. This introduction is part of McDonald’s strategy to tap into the demand for chicken items, following the heightened “chicken sandwich wars” among major fast-food chains over the past decade.
McDonald’s has also collaborated with social media influencer Kai Cenat, who will explore whether the new sandwich can be considered a “true” Big Mac. His live video appearances and taste tests will be shared on McDonald’s social channels throughout October.
The Chicken Big Mac includes familiar elements such as the Big Mac sauce, cheese, lettuce, and pickles, all served on a Big Mac bun. It is notable for omitting onions, which is a departure from the traditional Big Mac ingredients.
Additionally, McDonald’s is bringing back its Halloween pails for children and collectors as of October 15, replacing last year’s purple pail with a new blue version. These special pails, which come with stickers for customization, have become a seasonal favorite among the brand’s younger customers.
As McDonald’s continues to innovate and cater to new tastes, the company remains one of the leading names in the fast-food industry, operating approximately 13,500 restaurants across the United States, 95% of which are owned by independent business owners.
