Meet the Cast of NCIS: Origins, the Latest Prequel in the NCIS Franchise
NCIS: Origins, the newest addition to the NCIS franchise, has premiered with a fresh cast that delves into the early career of the iconic character Leroy Jethro Gibbs. The series, set in 1991, follows Gibbs as he begins his journey with the Naval Investigative Service (NIS), the precursor to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).
Austin Stowell takes on the role of a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs, bringing a new interpretation to the character while maintaining the essence that Mark Harmon established in the original NCIS series. Mark Harmon himself is involved in the project, serving as the narrator and an executive producer. He occasionally appears in the series, reflecting on his early days with the NIS.
Mariel Molino plays Special Agent Lala Dominguez, a key figure in the fledgling NIS office at Camp Pendleton. Kyle Schmid portrays Special Agent Mike Franks, another significant character in Gibbs’ early career. Tyla Abercrumbie stars as Mary Jo Sullivan, and Diany Rodriguez plays Vera Strickland, rounding out the main cast.
The series also features a strong production team, with Gina Lucita Monreal, David J. North, Sean Harmon, and Niels Arden Oplev among the executive producers. The first season consists of six episodes, with the premiere episodes “Enter Sandman – Part 1” and “Enter Sandman – Part 2” airing on October 14, 2024.
