Meghan Trainor Health Journey Weight Loss

LOS ANGELES, CA — Meghan Trainor is sharing her health journey that began with a diagnosis of gestational diabetes during pregnancy, a pivotal moment that prompted her to focus on fitness and wellness. The 31-year-old singer explained this transformation during a recent interview with 104.3 MYfm.

Trainor, who is a mother to two sons, Riley, 4, and Barry, 2, realized she needed to prioritize her health to keep up with her family and her demanding career. “I’ve got to learn about health and fitness if I want to tour forever,” she stated. “I’ve got to be at my strongest if I want to lift up my kids from their crib and not pull out my back.”

As she made changes to her lifestyle, Trainor became more focused on her overall well-being, regularly monitoring her hormone levels and gut health. “I just want to feel good,” she said, emphasizing the challenges of performing if she does not feel healthy.

Despite her progress, Trainor faced backlash for her weight loss. “I got a lot of hate for being thinner,” she confessed. “It’s weird—I’m finally so proud of myself and starting to love myself, and I’ve never gotten more hate.” This criticism affected her deeply as she struggled with feelings of confusion and sadness.

Trainor reflected on how her public persona as the “All About That Bass” singer added pressure to conform to a specific image. “Everyone was like, ‘Why are you thin now? You’re the ‘All About the Bass’ girl,’” she noted. “I’ve been on a fitness journey since I got healthy.”

In coping with the negativity, she has turned to therapy and music. Her new single, “Still Don’t Care,” channels her emotions about public perception and personal struggles. She recalled a moment of vulnerability when she cried over an online comment about her outfit. Her therapist reminded her that she was giving strangers too much power, which she found difficult to accept.

Through her journey, Trainor has also discussed the use of medication Mounjaro to aid her health goal after having her second child. Along with her husband, Daryl Sabara, she has explored safe options with her doctor and incorporated strict workouts and dietary changes.

“I’m going to keep getting better and keep getting stronger… and no one can stop me, not even mean comments,” she declared. Trainor also embraced cosmetic procedures that she felt were right for her, including a breast lift and implants.
