Metro Detroit Weather Forecast April 2025

DETROIT, Mich. — Metro Detroit residents are experiencing a significant drop in temperatures this weekend following a brief warm spell, with highs forecasted to plummet from the 80s on Friday to the 50s on Sunday. The shift in weather conditions marks a noteworthy transition as a cold front moves through the region.

On Friday, temperatures reached a high of 79 degrees in Detroit as Southeast Michigan basked in unseasonably warm weather. However, the National Weather Service warned of potential thunderstorms as a cold front approached. Meteorologist John Feerick noted, “A few spots could touch 80 tomorrow afternoon,” emphasizing the need for residents to be prepared for possible severe weather.

Saturday’s forecast features a stark change, with highs forecasted between 50 and 55 degrees. Cloud cover will diminish Saturday evening, leading to partly cloudy skies overnight. Lows are expected to dip to the lower 40s in Detroit, Southgate, and Monroe, while areas north of M-59 could see temperatures fall into the mid-30s. Winds will be out of the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday will bring a mix of sunshine and clouds, although some rain showers are anticipated in the late afternoon and evening. “You may want to take an umbrella or rain jacket, but the chances of rain are not high enough to warrant canceling outdoor Easter plans,” said a spokesperson from the 4Warn Weather Team. Highs will be in the low 50s.

Looking ahead to Monday, the weather will warm up again as a low-pressure system arrives over the Great Lakes. High temperatures are expected to peak around 70 degrees with strong southeasterly winds up to 35 mph. Thunderstorms may be possible, along with rain showers. Forecasts indicate partly cloudy skies will persist into the night with lows in the lower 40s.

As the week progresses, the forecast hints at another warm-up with temperatures potentially reaching the lower 70s from Wednesday through Friday. Scattered showers are also anticipated throughout the week, but according to weather experts, these storms are not expected to be significant washouts.

Next week, Metro Detroit’s average highs are projected in the lower 60s, with lows in the lower 40s. Additionally, residents are reminded that while next week marks the average last freeze date, freezing temperatures can occur as late as May.
