DETROIT, Mich. — Metro Detroit will experience warm temperatures this week, punctuated by rain and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

On Monday, temperatures are expected to reach the 80s under sunny skies, but rain will move into the area after 9 p.m. as showers cross over from Ohio. Overnight lows will hover around 60 degrees, with southeasterly winds at 5 to 10 mph. Rain showers will continue into the Tuesday morning commute, creating potentially challenging travel conditions.

Tuesday will be mostly cloudy, with scattered rain and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the mid-70s, while lows will remain around 60 degrees.

Wednesday is anticipated to start dry, but thunderstorms are forecasted to roll in during the afternoon as temperatures reach the upper 70s. Forecasters note a chance of severe weather on Thursday, when highs will spike into the low 80s and more thunderstorms are expected.

By the end of the week, another round of rain showers is likely, with temperatures slightly cooling but still above average. The weekend forecast shows highs in the mid-70s on Saturday, with a chance of rain, before falling into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees on Sunday as drier conditions return.
