Mets Announce Minor League Awards for 2025 Season

FLUSHING, N.Y. — The New York Mets announced their Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year awards on Monday, recognizing standout performances across their farm system. Outfielder Carson Benge earned the organization’s Minor League Player of the Year honor after being selected in the first round of last year’s draft.
Benge, drafted 19th overall, showcased his skills at various levels of the minors. Starting with High-A Brooklyn, he recorded a .302 batting average with 15 stolen bases and four home runs in 60 games. Following his promotion to Double-A Binghamton, Benge continued to impress, hitting .317 with eight homers in just 32 games.
However, the transition to Triple-A Syracuse proved challenging for Benge, as he struggled with a .130 batting average while hitting one home run in 76 plate appearances. Overall, he played 60 games in center field, 23 in right, and 21 in left, accumulating 13 home runs and an .840 OPS across 492 plate appearances this season.
Joining Benge in accolades was pitcher Tong, who shined in the minors with a remarkable 1.59 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 102 innings pitched for Binghamton. He was the Minor League strikeout leader before his promotion and pitched 11 2/3 scoreless innings at Syracuse, striking out 17 batters.
The Dominican Summer League Player of the Year award went to infielder Peña, who hit .292 with nine home runs in 223 plate appearances while stealing 21 bases. He also was effective defensively, starting 43 games at shortstop.
Calvo, a young left-handed pitcher from the Dominican Republic, caught attention with a 2.51 ERA and a 5-1 record across 11 appearances. He struck out 45 batters in 43 innings.
The Mets also acknowledged staff contributions, with Jackson Bertoli named the Staff Member of the Year and Rachel Neugart receiving the DSL Staff Member of the Year award.
