MIAMI – A Miami woman is raising concerns after a man has been seen peeping through her window three times in the past two months, leaving her neighborhood feeling uneasy.
Sofia Galiano, speaking with 7News on Sunday, detailed her frightening experiences with the repeat trespasser. “He just keeps coming back and he’s not even trying to hide it,” she said. “Like I’ll probably see him in the next few days walking up and down my block.”
Residents have expressed worries following her reports. Galiano mentioned that the man has been seen looking into her apartment as well as her neighbors’. “This is someone who’s repeatedly coming onto the property, opening my back gate, looking into my window,” she added.
The most recent incident occurred Sunday morning. Galiano’s surveillance video captures the unidentified man opening her back gate, going to her backyard, and peering through her kitchen window. “It was like super quick. I would say, like, two minutes tops,” she recounted.
Galiano described a previous encounter where she confronted the man as he was leaving her property. “Can I help you? What are you doing back there?” she asked, according to the video. He replied, “I was looking for something,” and left without further explanation. “It’s just surprising to see him in my backyard, looking through my window, twice,” she said, indicating her fears of being targeted.
In response to the incidents, Galiano has installed additional security measures, including extra Ring cameras and “no trespassing” signs. “Overall, there’s four cameras on my side and then five ‘no trespassing’ signs, but none of that has seemed to help,” she noted. “This morning, he unlocked this [metal gate] to come in.”
Galiano, who lives near a school, expressed her concerns for community safety. “I’m sure this is someone who’s potentially going into a child’s room, going into a young lady’s room. It’s just an issue for the whole community,” she said.
Although there is a security guard who patrols the neighborhood 24/7, Galiano remains vigilant. “It’s just surprising to see him in my backyard, looking through my window, twice,” she reiterated. “I don’t know if I’m being targeted.”
According to the Miami Police Department, they are aware of the suspicious man and have increased patrols in the area. They urge residents to report any sightings of the man trespassing or peering into homes.
If anyone has information regarding these incidents, they are encouraged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, where tips can be given anonymously and may lead to a reward of up to $5,000.
