Snow Covered School Buses Michigan Winter

MICHIGAN, USA — Schools across West Michigan remained closed Thursday as persistent snowfall and treacherous road conditions continued to disrupt daily life. While temperatures have risen slightly from earlier sub-zero lows, the snow has not relented, particularly in lakeshore communities.

Areas like Gaylord in northern Michigan have recorded over 12 inches of snow during this arctic blast, while lakeshore communities have seen accumulations ranging from 6 to 12 inches. Inland areas reported lighter snowfall, with totals between 3 and 6 inches.

Road conditions have been described as “treacherous” in some areas, prompting widespread school closures. Although conditions improved slightly on Wednesday, additional snowfall overnight has kept many schools shuttered. A full list of closures is available on local news platforms.

“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority,” said a spokesperson for one of the affected school districts. “We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as necessary.”

Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling and to stay updated on weather forecasts and road conditions.
