Middle Tennessee Snowstorm Forecast February 2025

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A First Alert Weather Day has been declared for Wednesday as Middle Tennessee braces for an impactful winter storm expected to bring several inches of snow. The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch for multiple counties in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky ahead of the anticipated snow accumulation.

The storm is predicted to begin late Tuesday night with snow showers continuing through at least Wednesday afternoon. High temperatures on Monday will remain in the upper 30s, with cloudy conditions expected on Tuesday as temperatures hover near 40 degrees.

Forecasts suggest that areas along and north of Interstate 40 could experience the highest snowfall, totaling between 2 to 4 inches. In contrast, regions south of I-40 are expected to see 1 to 2 inches of accumulation. The Tennessee/Alabama border may see light accumulations on elevated surfaces, although a wintry mix could reduce totals in those areas.

Jim McDavid, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service, noted, “While exact totals are uncertain at this point, the likelihood of travel impacts is significant due to the expected accumulation.” He urged residents to stay informed with updates from the First Alert Weather Team as the storm’s path and intensity continue to develop.

On Thursday morning, temperatures in the region will plummet into the teens, causing snow to struggle to melt throughout the day as high temperatures are projected to only reach the lower 20s. Travel conditions are likely to remain hazardous due to freezing temperatures following the snowfall.

Looking ahead to the end of the week, Friday is expected to be partly cloudy with daytime highs around freezing, with lingering travel impacts anticipated. The weekend will usher in low to middle 30-degree temperatures on Saturday, accompanied by a mix of sun and clouds. A slight warm-up occurs on Sunday, with highs in the 40s and partly cloudy conditions.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential power outages and travel disruptions as the winter conditions unfold. The Nashville Department of Transportation has announced minor adjustments to its snow removal strategy in response to the upcoming storm, highlighting the city’s proactive measures to mitigate the storm’s impact.
