Mike Ward Surprised By New Girlfriend's Performance On En Direct De L'univers

During a recent episode of the popular TV show, En Direct de l’univers, Quebec comedian Mike Ward was pleasantly surprised when his new girlfriend, Bibi Benoit, made a special appearance on stage to perform a duet with host France Beaudoin. The episode marked Ward’s first public acknowledgement of his separation from his former partner of 24 years, Mary-Chantal Bertrand.

Ward had kept his new relationship private out of respect for Bertrand, but he felt the time was right to share the news with his fans on his podcast, Sous écoute, earlier this year. However, it was during his appearance on En Direct de l’univers that the couple decided to make their official debut.

As Beaudoin performed Ward’s favorite love song, “Tu ne sauras jamais” by the band BB, Benoit surprised the comedian by stepping onto the stage and joining in for a brief verse. Ward couldn’t contain his joy and was visibly moved by the unexpected gesture.

Benoit, who works as a producer at Entourage Group and has been involved in organizing numerous Juste pour Rire comedy festivals over the years, is no stranger to the entertainment industry. In addition to her professional accomplishments, she’s also the former partner of one of Ward’s comedian friends.

During the episode, several of Ward’s close friends, including his manager Michel Grenier, joined him on stage to celebrate his career. Notably, comedians Stéphane Fallu and Édouard Tremblay Grenier performed comedic renditions of “Tokébakicitte” by Jérôme 50 and “Arrête de boire!” by the comedy group Rock et Belles Oreilles (RBO). Additionally, musician Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance and delivered a rap performance.

Other musical guests included Talk, who performed his hit single “Run Away to Mars,” a personal favorite of Ward’s, as well as songs from his album “Lord of the Flies & Birds & Bees.” Beaudoin also recommend Talk’s song “Afraid of the Dark” to viewers.

The tribute to Mike Ward’s career also featured a special performance by a father and son musical duo, making it a truly memorable evening for the comedian.
