MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — A 42-year-old man has been charged with multiple offenses, including murder, following an assault on two men in Minneapolis, which resulted in one victim’s death several days later. Coby Levan Richardson faces charges of second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, threats of violence, and fifth-degree assault in connection with the incident.

According to court records, the assault occurred shortly after noon on Saturday at a business located on the 2500 block of Lyndale Avenue South. Police arrived to find an unconscious man lying on his back in the parking lot. The victim suffered several head injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

The criminal complaint indicates that Richardson had a prior altercation with one of the victims weeks before the incident. Upon recognizing the man, Richardson allegedly threatened him, stating, “I will end you. I am gonna kill you.” The complaint reports that Richardson then punched both the man and the victim in the face, causing the latter to fall and hit his head on the cement sidewalk.

Witnesses stated that Richardson fled the scene in a vehicle before law enforcement arrived. The brother of the assaulted man, who was present during the confrontation, had previously encountered Richardson at a bar in January. He described feeling threatened when Richardson, who claimed to be a “Gangster disciple” from Chicago, demanded drinks from them. The brothers left the bar, feeling unsafe as other individuals present made gestures that suggested violence.

Minneapolis police reported that homicide investigators tracked Richardson to the 2800 block of Knox Avenue South. On Wednesday, officers, along with a SWAT team, executed a high-risk warrant to apprehend him.

Richardson is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Friday, where he faces significant legal repercussions following the tragic events that unfolded last week.
