Mitch Albom to Headline Fundraiser for Pediatric Hospice in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids, Michigan — The acclaimed author Mitch Albom will appear in West Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 10, to headline a special fundraiser at Wealthy Theatre. The event aims to benefit Hospice of Michigan’s Jo Elyn Nyman Pediatric Hospice Endowment Fund, which supports pediatric hospice care in the state.

Albom, known for his bestselling books like ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ and ‘The Five People You Meet in Heaven,’ will present an exclusive first look at his forthcoming novel, titled ‘twice,’ scheduled for release in October 2025. The novel delves into the complexities of love and the price of second chances.

“There are no second chances, which makes our choices even more critical,” said Patrick Miller, president and CEO of Hospice of Michigan. “We are grateful for partners like Jo Elyn Nyman and Mitch Albom, who recognize how vital pediatric hospice care is for the children and families we serve.”

The Jo Elyn Nyman Pediatric Hospice Endowment Fund plays a crucial role in supporting the nonprofit’s Anchors Programs for Children. This initiative offers year-round, in-home hospice and palliative care led by trained professionals. For over 30 years, the program has provided essential support to families facing terminal childhood illnesses.

“Every child facing a potentially life-limiting illness deserves compassionate, specialized care,” said Jo Elyn Nyman, the fund’s namesake. “This event offers a tangible way for the community to get involved and support pediatric hospice care.”

Albom has made a positive impact through his writing and charitable work. He has sold over 40 million books globally and runs several charitable initiatives, including an orphanage in Haiti.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with doors opening at that time, followed by the program at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are priced at $45, while a $100 VIP ticket includes a post-event meet and greet with Albom. Tickets and further information are available through the event’s official channels.
