Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly high-level session where he is likely to deliver a speech on September 26. This international platform will witness speeches from various world leaders, starting with Brazil‘s head of state followed by American leadership. Modi’s address in the UNGA agenda signifies an important moment for India.

The General Assembly sessions will take place from September 24 to the 30th, with discussions on global digital compact likely to be in focus. The Prime Minister’s name is prominently featured on the provisional list of speakers for the event scheduled on the 26th. However, the list is subject to change depending on any alterations in the schedule.

During the recent UNGA meeting, Modi was notably absent from the General Assembly gathering. Foreign Minister Jaishankar‘s name replaced Modi in the subsequent list. Before that, in 2021, Modi spoke at the annual session on the United Nations stage. This marks the third occasion where Modi has fulfilled his duties as Prime Minister in addressing the UNGA.

Earlier this year, Modi stayed away from the General Assembly meetings and celebrated International Yoga Day at his office. Therefore, this year’s UNGA session provides a chance for him to recalibrate his global presence and reaffirm India’s role in international affairs.
