Mohini Ekadashi, also known as the Vaishakh Shukla Paksha Ekadashi, holds immense significance in the Hindu calendar. Devotees across the country observe this day as a day of fasting and prayer dedicated to Lord Vishnu in His enchanting Mohini form. The legend behind Mohini Ekadashi traces back to the time when Lord Vishnu adorned the form of Mohini to safeguard the elixir from the demons during the churning of the ocean, ensuring the gods received it. Today, on May 19, the Mohini Ekadashi vrat is being practiced.

The auspicious muhurat for Mohini Ekadashi commenced on May 18 at 11:22 am and will conclude on May 19 at 1:50 pm. The Parana, where devotees break their fast, will take place on May 20 from 5:28 am to 8:12 am.

This year, the Mohini Ekadashi day is marked by the presence of several propitious yogas, including Radiant Yoga, All-Accomplishing Yoga, Amrita Siddhi Yoga, Shukradyuti Yoga, Rajbhang Yoga, and Lakshmi Narayan Yoga.

For devotees observing Mohini Ekadashi, the morning ritual involves taking a sacred bath and wearing clean attire. Setting up a Kalash adorned in red cloth, lighting a ghee lamp, and offering sandalwood, akshat, panchamrit, flowers, incense, lamp, fruits, and naivedya to Lord Vishnu is a customary practice. Chanting the Vishnu Sahasranama and performing the aarti is encouraged.

Individuals seeking prosperity can conduct the Dakshinavarti Shankha puja on Mohini Ekadashi to appease Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. Those looking for happiness and wealth should wake up early, offer prayers to Lord Hari Vishnu fervently, and light a lamp with nine wicks before Vishnu’s idol at night.
