Montclair Gift Shop Featured in New Netflix Film ‘Girl Haunts Boy’
Montclair, NJ – Residents of Montclair may notice a familiar site in the new Netflix film, “Girl Haunts Boy.” The White Rabbit Black Heart gift shop, located on Glenridge Avenue, serves as one of the locations in the movie. The film stars Peyton List as a ghostly figure from the 1920s named Bea, who haunts a new home occupied by the character Cole, portrayed by Michael Cimino.
According to a statement released by the gift shop, the filming took place approximately 16 months ago and was an elaborate affair, with over 100 cast and crew members working over four days. “In June 2022, White Rabbit Black Heart opened its doors to a world of the supernatural, becoming the eerie and enchanting set of the recently released Netflix movie Girl Haunts Boy!” the shop announced. It described the experience as “spine-tingling,” noting how the storyline has left an impact even after filming concluded.
Originally intended for an HBO Max release, “Girl Haunts Boy” was acquired by Netflix. The film is rated PG and has a runtime of one hour and 40 minutes. Peyton List, age 26, is widely recognized for her roles in Disney’s “Jessie,” “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” and “Cobra Kai” on Netflix. Her co-star, Michael Cimino, previously starred in Hulu’s “Love, Victor,” and is also known for his work on several Disney Channel series. Cimino, 24, also showcases his musical talent in the film.
The film’s soundtrack, which features Cimino’s music, has generated additional interest. Michael Cimino contributes three songs to the soundtrack: “Still Haunted By You,” “Old All Star,” and “No Me Gusta.” The soundtrack is scheduled for release by Lakeshore Records.
The movie’s plot follows Cole and his mother as they move to a new house where they encounter Bea. Trapped since the 1920s due to an ancient curse, Bea becomes intertwined in Cole’s life. The film delves into the themes of friendship and romance as Cole grapples with choices about Bea’s fate.
