Mooresville High School Police Arrest

MOORSVILLE, Ind. — An 18-year-old student from Mooresville High School was arrested on charges of planning a school shooting intended for Valentine’s Day. Trinity J. Shockley faces significant charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, a level 1 felony, and two counts of intimidation classified as level 5 felonies.

The intervention began after the FBI’s Sandy Hook tip line received an anonymous tip regarding Shockley’s alleged intentions. According to investigators, the informant claimed that she had access to an AR-15 rifle and had made statements that suggested admiration for past mass shooters, including Nicholas Cruz, who infamously killed 17 people during a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018.

In chat messages on Discord, Shockley was identified as “Jamie,” where she communicated her shooting plans with another user known as “TCC Mama.” Court documents reveal alarming exchanges in which she expressed her intent, stating, “Parkland part two. Of course, I’ve been planning this for a YEAR.” Shockley specifically mentioned targeting someone she referred to as her “crush.”

As the investigation progressed, detectives from the Mooresville Metropolitan Police collaborated with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office to execute search warrants at Shockley’s home. They discovered a collage of mass shooters, including Cruz and Dylan Roof, alongside notebooks filled with disturbing writings that depicted Shockley’s homicidal thoughts.

Shockley reportedly wrote, “I want to hurt others. All of these minorities are useless. I believe others don’t deserve to live. Everyone lives to die.” During questioning, she initially admitted to a plan styled after previous school shootings, indicating she intended to execute it during lunchtime.

Shockley connected her motivations to a personal tragedy, revealing that she wanted to prove her loyalty to Cruz because of her feelings of loneliness following the recent death of her mother. However, she later retracted her statements, claiming she was joking about the shooting and denied having access to a firearm.

Further complicating the situation, an official from Mooresville Schools mentioned that Shockley had sought mental health assistance since her freshman year, but alleged that her father consistently denied her access to care. At present, Trinity Shockley is being held in the Morgan County Jail without bond.
