Msnbc Town Hall With Federal Workers

Washington, D.C. – April 28, 2025 – MSNBC‘s Stephanie Ruhle will host a live town hall titled “100 Days of Trump: A Town Hall with Forced Out Federal Workers” on Thursday, May 1 at 9 p.m. ET. The event will highlight the impact of job cuts on federal workers due to the Trump administration’s policies.

The town hall will feature an audience of 50 former federal employees from various sectors, including Health and Human Services, the Internal Revenue Service, and Veterans Affairs. Ruhle will be accompanied by Political and National Correspondent Jacob Soboroff to discuss the effects of these layoffs on critical federal agencies.

Ruhle said, “It has been like drinking from a fire hose,” regarding the swift changes impacting federal workers. She emphasized the importance of the voices present at the town hall. “I see every person in that room as also an important guest, an important voice, because this is not about partisanship. This is about America.”

During the event, Soboroff will present original reporting about how the job cuts affect communities nationwide, with plans to visit West Virginia to examine the consequences for local economies. Ruhle noted the disparity in perceived impacts between states like Alabama and West Virginia.

“When you take cuts like that, you’re going to impact millions of potential lives,” Ruhle said, referring to the implications of cuts on medical research. She expressed concern about the sweeping changes and the notion that it could galvanize discussions on the federal workforce.

The town hall aims to shed light on the challenges faced by former federal workers and the broader societal implications of the cuts. The program will air live on MSNBC, offering an intimate view of the ongoing situation for those affected.

With rising tensions and debates surrounding federal policies, Ruhle aims to provide a platform for these important voices and highlight the ramifications of decisions being made far beyond Washington, D.C.
