Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes Eastbound I-70 Near Avon

AVON, Colo. — A multi-vehicle crash has closed eastbound Interstate 70 near Dowd Junction, as reported by CoTrip.org on February 14, 2025. The collision prompted an Eagle County Alert to be issued at 12:32 p.m. Friday.
According to the alert, one lane reopened to traffic approximately one hour after the incident. However, conditions remain treacherous as a significant snowfall has blanketed the area overnight, with additional accumulation expected throughout the day.
The earlier alert warned motorists of multiple accidents reported across Eagle County and advised them to “drive safely and consider not traveling.” The effects of the storm were felt beyond Avon, impacting travel routes throughout the region.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and manage traffic flow while road crews work to clear the area. Residents and travelers are urged to check local conditions before heading out and follow guidance from law enforcement.
