Hays County Texas Wildfires

HAYS COUNTY, Texas — Multiple wildfires broke out in Hays County on Tuesday afternoon, prompting evacuation notices and a significant response from local firefighting teams. The Hays County Office of Emergency Services (HCOEM) reported that flames are actively raging between FM 150 West in Kyle and Ruby Ranch Road, as well as FM 967 near Buda.

Firefighters from several local departments are engaged in combatting the blazes, which have raised concerns about public safety. HCOEM officials are urging residents to avoid the fire-affected areas and advised that any evacuation notices will be issued through Warn Central Texas.

Additionally, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the Austin Fire Department is addressing a large fire near Engelke Road in Kyle. An evacuation notice was issued initially but has since been lifted as Hays County deputies assisted the situation.

This incident occurs amid a heightened fire risk throughout Central Texas, attributed to severe drought conditions. Updates on the fire status will be provided as additional information becomes available.
