Mumbai Braces for Heavy Rains, Waterlogging Reported in Several Areas
As Mumbai experiences heavy rainfall, the city authorities are on high alert for potential floods and waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
The downpour caused waterlogging in various places, such as Andheri and APMC Market. A portion of a one-storey house in Mumbai’s Andheri East area collapsed during the early hours of the morning due to heavy rains, fortunately without injuries.
The BMC issued a ‘high tide’ warning, anticipating a tide of 3.69 meters at 4:39 pm. In Assam, flood levels have started receding, yet officials remain vigilant of moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions.
Himachal Pradesh continues to experience moderate rainfall, leading to road closures in Mandi, Shimla, and Kangra districts, creating disruptions in the state. Areas like Baijnath, Dharamshala, and Kangra received significant rainfall totals in the past 24 hours.
