Murder Suspect Trevor McEuen Arrested After Month-Long Manhunt

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Trevor McEuen, a murder suspect whose disappearance sparked a manhunt in North Texas, was arrested early Monday morning, according to the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.
McEuen had been on the run since he skipped a court date on May 5 for a capital murder charge, prompting authorities to search for him in Van Zandt County. Officials reported that he had removed his ankle monitor prior to the court date.
Deputies initially thought McEuen was still in the U.S. 80 area near Grand Saline but later determined he was no longer in the vicinity. In response to his actions, a warrant was issued for his arrest for bail revocation and he was subsequently added to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s 10 Most Wanted Fugitive list.
The circumstances of McEuen’s arrest are still pending as officials plan to release more details later today. In the past, he was reportedly seen in a pickup truck, which had been shot multiple times, raising further concerns regarding his dangerous behavior.
A total of $30,000 in rewards was offered for information leading to McEuen’s capture. Last month, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a $10,000 reward from his Public Safety Office to assist in his arrest, matching similar offers from Kaufman County Crime Stoppers and the Sheriff’s Office.
Governor Abbott emphasized the need for urgent bail reform in Texas. “A violent criminal like McEuen charged with capital murder should never be released on our streets,” he stated. He urged citizens with information to contact the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline.
Family members of the victim, Salvador Martinez and his mother Rosa Mejía Calderón, expressed frustration about how the justice system managed McEuen’s case. “We had always made it clear that we didn’t want him to be free — because we knew how dangerous he is,” Salvador Martinez said.
Their concerns follow a troubling history of McEuen’s violence, as he previously threatened the family prior to the crime against Martinez’s son.
