Murderer Jailed for Cat Killing and Fatal Thames River Crime Spree
A murderer who took a life and streamed a cat’s killing earlier has been sentenced to a minimum of 24 years for the gruesome crimes. Scarlet Blake, previously known as Alice Wang, had violently attacked and drowned Jorge Martin Carreno in the River Cherwell in Oxford during an intense episode in July 2021.
Oxford Crown Court found Blake guilty of murder last Friday, uncovering a disturbing trail of violence and cruelty. The court heard how a Netflix show, Don’t F*** With Cats, potentially influenced Blake’s actions, indicating a troubling connection between the cat killing and Carreno’s tragic demise. Prosecutors noted Blake’s disturbing fascination with harm, death, and violence extended beyond mere fantasy.
During the trial, shocking details emerged about Blake’s behavior, including a specific interest in inflicting harm for sexual gratification. The 26-year-old had a history of seeking out victims while on the streets, preying on unsuspecting individuals like Carreno who encountered her under unsettling circumstances.
Testimonies revealed a sinister relationship between Blake and another individual, Ashlynn Bell, a trans woman from the US. The court heard about an online connection that escalated into disturbing acts of violence, including the brutal killing and dismemberment of a cat that Blake later acknowledged.
In a chilling turn of events, Blake showcased a lack of remorse, reveling in the atrocities she committed. The court cited how she returned to the crime scenes multiple times, taking pleasure in documenting her cruel deeds. The atmosphere of violence was underscored by the eerie background music playing during the cat’s killing, a tribute to The New Order and the Netflix documentary.
Mr Justice Chamberlain KC handed down a severe sentence, highlighting the defendant’s clear sexual motivation for Carreno’s murder. The victim’s family expressed profound grief and disbelief at the senseless loss of Jorge. Det Supt Jon Capps commended the Carreno family’s resilience throughout the trial, given the harrowing nature of the evidence presented.
Blake, now facing life imprisonment at a men’s facility in Oxford, received swift justice for the heinous crimes. The court’s decision serves as a reminder of the chilling realities of violence, manipulation, and the profound impact on victims and their loved ones. The tragic loss of Jorge Martin Carreno echoes as a cautionary tale of the darkest depths of human depravity.
