WARSAW, Poland — Netflix premiered its latest mystery thriller, ‘Just One Look,’ on March 5, 2025, captivating audiences with its tale of hidden truths and family dilemmas.

The series follows Greta, portrayed by Maria Dębska, a jewelry designer and devoted mother, whose life spirals into chaos upon discovering an old photograph of her husband, Jacek (Cezary Łukaszewicz). In the photo, a red X marks the face of an unknown woman, leading Greta to question everything she thought she knew about her husband.

Shortly after confronting Jacek about the photo, he mysteriously disappears. The coinciding timing ignites Greta’s suspicion, thrusting her into a frantic search for answers. “When I found that photograph, I knew something was deeply wrong,” Greta reflects in a revealing moment. “I never imagined it would lead me back to the darkest day of my life.”

Greta’s turmoil is rooted in a tragic incident from 2009, when a concert fire claimed numerous lives, leaving her as the sole survivor. This haunting memory resurfaces, intertwining with her present as she investigates Jacek’s disappearance.

In her quest, she crosses paths with Borys Gajewicz (played by an undisclosed actor), a former prosecutor seeking answers concerning his daughter’s mysterious death, linked to the same arson. “I thought I lost my daughter to an accident, but I believe there’s more to it,” Borys states, emphasizing the depth of his investigation.

Throughout the series, Greta uncovers unsettling connections between Jacek, Borys, and the fire that forever changed her life. The narrative skillfully intertwines their stories, unveiling layers of deception and unresolved trauma.

As the mystery unfolds, characters are introduced with hidden agendas. One key figure is Sandra, who manipulates events surrounding the investigation, adding to the growing tension. “The truth is never as simple as it seems,” Sandra warns, leaving viewers questioning her true intentions.

Audience reviews have been mixed. While some resonate with its riveting plot and character development, others criticize the pacing and depth of the storyline. “It’s a gripping scenery of emotions that kept me guessing,” commented a viewer, reflecting the compelling narrative’s impact. In contrast, another said, “The plot holes are too big to overlook,” showcasing the divisive opinions on the series.

‘Just One Look’ is adapted from Harlan Coben‘s novel, maintaining his signature suspenseful flair. Coben’s previous adaptations, including ‘The Stranger’ and ‘Safe,’ have garnered significant attention, establishing him as a master of modern thrillers.

As the six-episode series progresses, viewers are left on the edge of their seats, eager to unravel the truth behind the photograph and the deception surrounding Greta’s life. The blend of psychological tension and family drama results in a compelling watch that dives deep into the consequences of secrets and lies.
