Naomi Osaka Shares Halloween Joy with Fans in Costume
NEW YORK, NY
Japanese tennis star Naomi Osaka expressed her heartfelt appreciation for fans who dressed up as her for Halloween. The World No. 16 made the comments on social media, just weeks after withdrawing from the quarterfinals of the 2025 Kinoshita Group Japan Open due to a leg injury.
In her Instagram stories, Osaka shared several photos of fans in creative costumes. One photo featured a spooky backdrop with Jack Skellington, where she wished everyone a “happy halloween.” Another fan was seen wearing a white hoodie and headphones, prompting Osaka to call it “iconic behavior.”
A particularly touching moment came when she shared a picture of a child on a tennis court, donning Osaka’s signature bow dress. The WTA star responded with heartfelt emojis, showing her delight. Another costume that caught her attention featured a young girl in a red dress, similar to one Osaka wore during the US Open, holding a glitter-filled Labubu doll.
Osaka also praised a fan who dressed entirely as a Labubu doll, saying, “LOL going as the labubu is pure commitment 😂😂😂😂 You did that!” The last image shared was of a couple, with one dressed as Osaka and the other as the Labubu doll. She concluded, “The Halloween costumes make my year every time 😂❤️.”
Despite her recent injury and the end of her season, Osaka reflected positively on her year, stating, “Great year, everybody. Let’s do it again next year. Maybe a little differently. But yeah, it was fun. See you in Australia.”
