Napier Aquatic Centre Renovations

Napier, New Zealand – The Napier Aquatic Centre will reopen on Monday after nearly a year of significant maintenance work. This project aimed to ensure the health and safety of pool customers and staff, according to the Napier City Council.

Mayor Kirsten Wise emphasized that the renovations were much more than just aesthetic updates. She stated, “This work has been remedial, designed to keep the pool operational and safe for all users and staff.” The centre is known for being “well used and well loved,” and the renovations aimed to support its continued popularity.

The refurbishment included essential upgrades, such as repairs to the old pool’s lining, wall and roof improvements, flooring upgrades, new heating systems, better seating, and enhanced accessibility features. Wise noted, “We wanted to ensure important programmes such as our swim classes, health and fitness sessions, and deep-water survival classes could continue in a safe facility.”

After months of construction work, the Napier Aquatic Centre is ready to welcome back its community and provide a safe environment for all visitors.
