Aliya Fakhri Arrest New York Double Murder

Aliya Fakhri, the 43-year-old sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested and charged in connection with the murders of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, in Queens, New York.

The incident occurred on November 2 when Aliya Fakhri allegedly set a two-story garage on fire, leading to the deaths of Jacobs, 35, and Ettienne, 33. According to District Attorney Melinda Katz, Aliya arrived at the garage early in the morning and yelled “you’re all going to die today” at Jacobs, who lived upstairs. A witness reported hearing her voice and finding the building on fire.

Jacobs was sleeping during the incident, while Ettienne came downstairs after being alerted to the fire but returned upstairs to try and save Jacobs. Both victims died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries. Aliya Fakhri has been indicted by a grand jury on four counts of murder in the first degree, four counts of murder in the second degree, and one count each of arson in the first and second degrees.

The relationship between Aliya Fakhri and Edward Jacobs was described as abusive, with Jacobs having broken up with her about a year ago. However, Aliya was reportedly not accepting the rejection. Jacobs’ mother, Janet, stated that her son had made it clear he was done with the relationship, but Aliya continued to pursue him.

Aliya Fakhri’s mother has expressed disbelief over the allegations, describing her daughter as someone who cared for and tried to help everyone. She also mentioned that Aliya had been struggling with opioid addiction following a dental mishap, which may have contributed to her behavior.

If convicted of the top charge, Aliya Fakhri faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9).
