Nashville Winter Snow Flurries Icy Roads

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – Occasional light snow flurries are expected to linger through Saturday morning, creating a light dusting in isolated areas. The primary concern, however, will be the dropping temperatures and the formation of new slippery spots on bridges, overpasses, roads, driveways, sidewalks, and porches.

Residents are advised to exercise caution if driving, particularly on hills and areas where the road appears wet or slick. The National Weather Service has warned of widespread slick spots throughout the weekend, with temperatures starting in the 20s on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Sunday morning is expected to be colder, with temperatures dipping into the teens in some areas, leading to even more icy and slippery conditions.

Saturday afternoon will remain mostly cloudy, with a few sunny breaks possible and a high of 36 degrees. Sunday afternoon will see more sunshine, allowing temperatures to climb into the upper 30s and supporting some melting of the icy patches.

Cold weather is expected to persist into next week, with lows in the teens and 20s and highs in the 30s from Monday through Wednesday. The melt/refreeze cycle will continue to create icy and slick spots on roads. A milder turn is expected on Thursday, with temperatures reaching the 40s, and Friday could see even warmer conditions, with highs in the low 50s and a chance of late-day showers.
