Naval Academy Lifts Lockdown After Multiple Threats Cleared

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Naval Support Activity Annapolis and the U.S. Naval Academy resumed normal operations Friday evening after a lockdown was lifted following multiple threats reported earlier in the day. The North Severn Complex was placed on lockdown at 3:40 p.m., with Gates 1 and 8 temporarily closed as a precaution.
Officials confirmed that no active threats were found on campus, and all affected areas were cleared by 5:30 p.m. The U.S. Naval Academy (USNA) stated that the lockdown was precautionary and that no threats were identified on campus. Parents of students at the Naval Academy Primary and Secondary School were allowed to pick up their children during the incident.
NSA Annapolis security, along with local law enforcement, responded to the reported threats at the North Severn Complex. By early evening, all gates were reopened, and normal operations resumed. The Visitor Control Center also resumed operations, though public visitors were not permitted at the U.S. Naval Academy during the lockdown.
USNA officials emphasized that the situation was under control and that there was no ongoing threat to the campus or surrounding areas. Further details about the nature of the threats were not immediately disclosed.
