The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in India have sparked a flurry of political activities across the country. Following the announcement of the election results by the Election Commission (EC), the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has called for a crucial meeting at the residence of Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The meeting is expected to dive into the implications of the election outcome and chart a course of action moving forward.

Meanwhile, in the national capital, top officials from the Election Commission are set to meet with President Murmu to formally present the comprehensive list of the newly elected Members of Parliament. This meeting marks the initial step in the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha and the subsequent government setup.

Despite the election results delivering the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a majority of seats in the Lok Sabha, they fell short of the 272-majority mark. As a result, the BJP and its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies are strategizing on the formation of the new government at the Centre.

In a significant development, NDA members, including key leaders like Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, have opted to elect Narendra Modi as their leader. This move showcases the unity and confidence within the NDA coalition as they navigate the post-election scenario.

With the caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to stake claim to form the new government in the coming days, the political landscape in India is ripe with anticipation and strategic maneuvering. The Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed that President Murmu has accepted the resignation of PM Modi and the Union Council of Ministers, allowing them to continue in office until the new government is formed.
