Nebraska Women's Basketball Team Scrimmage

Lincoln, Nebraska – The Nebraska women’s basketball team faced off against Missouri in a closed scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Johnson County Community College near Kansas City. This marked the team’s first competition outside their training regimen.

The Huskers showcased their talent, with a standout performance from junior forward Ashlyn Morrow, who led all scorers with 23 points. Morrow shot 8-of-11 from the field, including three three-pointers, and made all four of her free throw attempts. Her efficiency was a key factor in the matchup.

Also contributing significantly was sophomore forward Hana Bozan, who added 18 points, including two three-pointers. Bozan ignited a scoring spree with back-to-back threes as Nebraska surged ahead with a 16-2 run to start the third quarter.

Point guard Bria Hake, a standout from last season, facilitated the offense by contributing 12 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Her decision-making helped Nebraska secure a total of 27 assists during the game.

Newcomer Jacey Johnson, a sophomore transfer from Paducah, also made a significant impact, scoring 12 points and hitting four three-pointers. Her early contributions in the first quarter helped set a fast pace for the Huskers.

Another key contributor was senior transfer Mariah Gates, who added nine points, including six in the fourth quarter, while leading the defense with four steals. Fellow senior Grace Moyer contributed six points and was instrumental in filling various roles on the court.

Nebraska’s offense was potent as they managed to record over 100 points, aided by their impressive shooting from beyond the arc, hitting 15 of 26 three-point attempts.

For Missouri, Shannon Dowell led the way with 19 points, while Grace Slaughter chipped in with 11 points.

The Huskers are set to host Mount Marty for their only exhibition of the season on Friday, Oct. 24, with the game scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT) at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
