Neeraj Chopra Shines In Javelin Qualifiers At Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra, India’s celebrated Olympic champion, kicked off his Paris Olympics 2024 adventure in style by qualifying for the finals of the men’s javelin throw. He made quite an impression by throwing an impressive 89.34 meters right on his first attempt on August 6.

Stepping up to open the qualifying round for Group B, Neeraj set a strong tone for the event with his remarkable throw. It was such a solid performance that he didn’t even have to throw again, automatically securing his spot in the finals by easily surpassing the required 84 meters.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem also made his mark by throwing 86.59 meters, clinching an automatic qualification spot too. He finished with the fourth longest throw of the qualification round and has become one of Neeraj’s key competitors.

Former world champion Anderson Peters also performed well, registering a throw of 88.63 meters, which was the second longest on the day. Following closely were Germany’s Julian Weber and Kenya’s Julius Yego, contributing to a highly competitive field.

Interestingly, Neeraj’s throw not only marked a season best but also surpassed his Olympic-winning throw from Tokyo 2021, which was 87.58 meters. His performance has set the stage for an exciting final on August 8.

The javelin throw finals promise to be a thrilling showdown, especially with Neeraj looking to defend his Olympic title. As everyone gears up for the final competition at Stade de France, the anticipation continues to build, especially with the high stakes involved.
